“Eclipse” ride is made up of one arm with a counterweight on one end, and on the other end a 9 mt. (30′) round plate, made of a steel structure covered with chequered aluminium, which rotates both clockwise and counter-clockwise. Also the arm rotates both clockwise and counter-clockwise.
The arm is fixed in a inclined position on the structure through a swinging bearing, and its rotation makes the plate incline during its own rotation. Five satellites with four seats each are installed on the plate, and rotate freely. These rotations are sudden and unpredictable as they are the result of a number of variables such as arm and plate speed and acceleration, position and inclination of the plate in relation with arm and centre as well as passengers’ weight. Both the direction and the rotation speed of plate and satellites can be either modified or inverted at any time. The plate can only rotate in the opposite direction of the arm, whereas the satellites can rotate freely in any direction.
